  Mission Bend Christian Academy’s mission is to BRING children into a nurturing Environment, BUILD a strong spiritual, academic, social, and physical foundation, and to SEND forth Christ-like students.

Welcome

What a joy to welcome your children to Mission Bend Christian Academy! As you bring your children to us, you are following the admonition of our Lord Jesus Christ, “let the little children come to me.” (Matt. 19:13) Our goal is to provide a loving environment enabling our students to grow spiritually, academically, socially and physically.

We are striving to “train up a child in the way he should go, and when he is old he will not turn from it.” (Prov. 22:6) In this manner we plan to fulfill our mission, which is “BRING, BUILD and SEND.” Thank you for the privilege of teaching and caring for your children. We want to partner with you in this ministry to our children.

In Christ’s Name,
Marita Foreman
Head of School

Mission Bend Christian Academy is dedicated to providing quality education for toddlers  through middle school.  Teachers and specialists with a diversity of educational backgrounds and experiences present developmentally appropriate instruction in a nurturing and loving environment.

PURPOSE
We believe that our children are the most important investment in the future. . .our #1 resource. Cultivating this resource through academically sound, Christian education empowers our children with strong character to make a difference in the future. We seek to provide appropriate activities that meet the spiritual, academic, physical, emotional, and social needs of the individual child.

HISTORY
Mission Bend Christian Academy (MBCA) is a loving ministry of the Mission Bend United Methodist Church.  It started with a vision to create a place within the community where children could be safe, nurtured and experience spiritual growth and development in a Christian environment.

In 1982, the “Mother’s Day Out” ministry began serving preschool children up to age 4.  Parents wanting their children to remain in the same caring environment through elementary school were an encouragement to expand the level of care and educational services.  The school added approximately one grade per year between1995 – 2006. It added preschool, elementary and intermediate level grades and is all-inclusive to the surrounding community.

FUTURE PLANS
In 2009 – 2010 school year the school will add 7th grade with the plan to add 8th grade the following school year.

DIVERSITY
Cultural and ethnic diversity is a positive asset for the school. The school is racially and ethnically diverse and is sensitive to the variety of cultures in the community. English is the primary language spoken at MBCA; however, English is not always the first language of the students or their parents.  MBCA works with students to help them learn the English language.

SCHOOL PHILOSOPHY
We believe that our children are the most important investment in the future…our #1 resource.  Cultivating this resource through academically sound, Christian education empowers our children with strong character to make a difference in the future.  We, at the Academy, aim to encourage, guide and challenge the students entrusted to us.  WE strive to better our world child by child. We strive to:

  • Develop creativity and self-expression;
  • Foster positive attitudes toward self and others;
  • Cultivate language skills and communication abilities;
  • Stimulate interest in mathematics, sciences and the arts:
  • Promote health, physical and spiritual growth and motor development;
  • Encourage self-discipline and acceptance of reasonable limits;
  • Strengthen home-school relationships;

We plan our curriculum within a caring and creative environment.  Our programs are carefully designed to enlarge the child’s repertoire of knowledge and skills to increase self-confidence and promote curiosity and initiative.

SCHOOL GROUNDS
MBCA is located on 17 acres of land surrounded by green grass. The buildings take up approximately 6 acres of space. Some of the buildings are modular. The environment is well lit and clean. There is a sports pavilion on the property. It is conducive of a learning environment with room for future growth. MBCA is adjacent to Mission Bend United Methodist Church.

AN ASSET TO THE COMMUNITY
MBCA offers a multiuse facility to enhance the quality of life within the community.  The facility is available for home school activities, youth groups, Boy Scouts and Girl Scouts, sports teams and camps.  The community can reserve space at MBCA for approved activities to offset operational expenses of the schools educational programs.
